The Dior Runway Bag was the first big accessory introduction of the post-Raf Simons age at Dior (about the runway, as the title would suggest), and that was, admittedly, somewhat suspicious of it. This was partly due to my immense affection for the bags created during Simons’s tenure at the legendary French design house and despair over his voluntary death, but it was also motivated by the bag’s proportions and just how out of place it seemed with current trends. A couple months on, it’s beginning to grow on me.The tote, because you can see, is essentially a Lady Dior Bag produced long and squat, which is comparable to the way Jean-Paul Gaultier altered the proportions of the Birkin to create the JPG Shoulder Birkin throughout his period in Hermès. Instead of turning the top handles into more shoulder straps, however, that the Runway Bag uses a separate, wide shoulder strap that is long enough to produce the bag a true shoulder tote, but not long enough for shoulder carry. There’s a version with the trendiest shoulder strap, and that is the bag that caught my attention off the bat–that the Bohemian-inspired strap features red yarn adorned with outdated, silver-toned medallions and black lambskin details. It is the version I need: the traditional black lambskin with the updated strap. It feels like that is the sort of bag that’s bringing Dior to the forefront of every celeb’s and handbag fan’s wish list, and I am so happy to see it happening. The small size is too small for my frame, but you will find larger dimensions, which is definitely what I’d choose for if I were to buy this bag.Speaking of that, in the event that you loved the Dior So Real sunglasses, Dior just introduced the Dior So Real Pop Sunglasses, which supply colorful lenses.
