Time for round 2 of my summertime hall ’17 reviews! This time I’ll be reviewing the Lady Dior tote I bought. The Lady Dior tote a part of Dior’s timeless classics series, and I’m sure we could all concur that the background, structure, and look of this bag all certainly support this. Interesting reality — do you know why the Lady Dior tote is known as the Lady Dior tote? Therefore, if you are already fortunate enough to possess one of these bags then now you understand your bag is steeped in a bit of royal history. And for people who were coveting the bag — in other words dying to get one — it merely gives you an excess reason to move this up on your wishlist!I myself might see why Princess Diana loved the bag. It has a royal character to it and I feel it could make the least complicated of gals — myself included — seem a bit more elegant by wearing this look. As you can tell from the montage above, Princess Diana was obsessed with all the bag and had the black color in every size and leather! As soon as I decided to get the tote I naturally floated towards choosing black myself — so hey I figure Lady Di and I have something in common when it comes to gravitating towards black accessories! Anyways jokes aside I chose to go to the Lady Dior at the original size in black lambskin (not the miniature or the large) with gold hardware. I love the look of silver hardware on a Lady Dior too, but for some reason felt that the black really popped out against the black and that I fell in love with the look. The initial a.k.a authentic version of the bag retails for around $4,100 USD while I got mine for less than a 1/10 of that at roughly $400 USD.

If I have said it once, I’ve said it 5,000 timesI just cannot get enough black. Maybe it’s that the New Yorker in me, or perhaps it’s just that black always seems so, well, chic. Naturally, once I got a glimpse of Dior’s Pre-Fall 2018 bags, I couldn’t believe what I saw: lovely black totes with hardware that was not gold, and not silver either–it was black. I was immediately obsessed, and that I couldn’t wait to see these totes in person.My favorite of the two people got our little paws on is The Dior Lady Dior Bag. While I get the appeal of a super feminine bag, they aren’t the type of bags I typically steer toward. This version of the Lady Dior changed all that for me personally, and I must acknowledge that the Lady Dior simply went way, way up in my want list.I don’t really have words for why I really like this bag so much, other than the fact that it is just so freaking cool. I envision myself wearing this many ways, out of jeans, a dressy shirt and heels into my beloved Levi’s and sneaks–this bag can definitely do it all. Not to mention, this tote is relatively functional, as it can be hand carried or worn using the removable shoulder strap, and that I just adore. This tote is the medium size, therefore it is just right and fits pretty much everything you would need for the day, plus some extras. I managed to fit in my pocket, sunglasses, and a tiny makeup case, both my work phone and my private phone, and also my camera once the bag was arranged just right.

In Dior, the change out of popular artistic director Raf Simons into Maria Grazia Chiuri, the (also quite popular) co-artistic manager at Valentino, was a primitive one. No one expected Raf to split following three critically acclaimed decades, and because of that, there wasn’t any wind down in customer interest and no anticipation that a change could be coming. And boydid things change–Chiuri brought with her a variant of womanhood much different than Simons’s ultra-feminine futurism. Her Dior is much less slick and more casual, and in that casualness, arguably more reflective of how many women actually live in their garments in 2018. There have been moments of aesthetic turbulence in creating that shift, but in the newly debuted Cruise 2019 collection, Dior has once more found its altitude.As much as bags move, the runway collection is relatively short on Dior classics, although they’ll obviously be in the complete assortment that arrives in stores. Instead, Chiuri took the chance to both stoke the resurrection of the Dior Saddle Bag, found here in both logo and heavily adorned forms, in addition to a simple, new east-west satchel and saddle (lowercase S) bag. The execution of them is solid and sleek, and they’re a fantastic counterpart to some of the line’s more logo-heavy choices.
